RESEARCH & TRAINING DIVISION (FORESTRY)

  1. All administrative and financial matters relating to the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA), Dehradun (except establishment matters).
  2. All administrative and financial matters relating to the Directorate of Forest Education and its colleges (except establishment matters)
  3. All administrative and financial matters relating to the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), Dehradun and its Institutes/ Centres (Except establishment matters)
  4. All matters relating to the Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal
  5. All matters relating to the Indian Plywood Industries Research and Training Institute (IPIRTI), Bangalore.
  6. All matter connected with in-service training of the IFS officers sponsored by this ministry.
  7. Nodal Point for the International Network for Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR)
  8. Nodal point for Land Use, Land Use Change & Forestry (LULUCF) issues under Climate Change under the UNFCCC.
  9. Nodal point for the Asia Pacific Forest Invasive Species Network ( APFISN)
  10. Administrative approval to all research projects submitted by the ICFRE & its institutes and other organizations etc, for funding by national/international organizations.
  11. Monitoring of progress of externally aided projects being implemented by the research and training institutions under the administrative control of RT Division.
  12. Administrative approval to externally aided projects related to forestry research submitted by experts/different ministries.
  13. Foreign collaboration, on forestry research related matters and connected visits/study tours of foreigners, foreign visits of IFS officers working in institutes/organizations under the administrative control of this division.
  14. Training of foreign candidates in India under different assistance programmes including ad-hoc training requests in the institutes under the administrative control of RT Division.
  15. Co-ordination with agriculture universities and other related scientific/technical bodies.
  16. Scrutiny of research projects/proposals on forestry problems & other technical references.
  17. Liaison with other ministries/organizations of the Government of India on issues connected with forestry research and training.
